Galway’s Westend
Galway’s Westend wanted a digital home that felt like the neighbourhood itself, bohemian, bold and full of life. The existing site lacked cohesion and didn’t reflect the vibrant mix of independent businesses, award‑winning restaurants, pubs, arts venues and community projects that define this corner of the city. As lead digital partner, we worked with the Westend team to develop a website that would support tourism, celebrate locals and highlight sustainability initiatives.

Key Features:
- Human-centred design: We adopted a warm colour palette, lively typography and an editorial layout to echo the neighbourhood’s energy. Hero sections celebrate the westend as a place where “stories, music and good food come together”, with calls to “wander down west” and “lose the map, find the magic.”
- Structured navigation: Content is organised into Walking Tours, Food & Drink, Explore (shops, stays, activities), About, Environmental Projects and Articles. Each section includes curated lists, local insights and clear call‑to‑action buttons.
- Interactive map & booking: Visitors can find cafés, pubs, shops and hidden gems via an interactive map, while tour pages allow booking through FareHarbor.
- Community & sustainability: Dedicated pages showcase environmental projects such as tap‑map refill stations, community gardens and bike racks, as well as newsletters and social media feeds.
- Technology: Built on WordPress with a custom theme, the site is responsive and accessible, optimised for SEO and integrated with analytics for KPI tracking.
- Collaboration: The project was a true team effort, involving local businesses, community leaders and Fáilte Ireland.
The new website presents a unified, authentic narrative that invites visitors to explore like a local. It supports independent businesses, promotes sustainable tourism and provides the community with a flexible platform to share news, events and projects.
