Sunflower Children’s Hospice supports children with life-limiting conditions and the families who care for them, while working to expand access to specialist hospice and respite support services across Ireland.
The organisation needed a website that could communicate a deeply emotional mission with clarity and sensitivity, while also supporting fundraising, awareness and long-term organisational growth.
One of the biggest challenges with the project was designing for multiple audiences arriving with very different needs and emotional contexts.
Some visitors are families looking for support and information. Others are donors, fundraisers, volunteers or corporate partners trying to understand how they can help. We carefully structured the website around these different journeys, creating clearer pathways into the content and reducing the amount of effort required for users to find relevant information. The result is a more accessible and supportive experience that guides users naturally without overwhelming them.

The visual direction was intentionally calm, warm and approachable, using soft colours, supportive imagery and generous spacing to create a sense of reassurance throughout the experience. At the same time, strong content hierarchy and simplified navigation ensure the website remains easy to use across all devices.
Rather than relying on overly clinical or heavily corporate design patterns, the goal was to create something that felt human, hopeful and personal while still maintaining professionalism and trust.
The new website was designed not just for today’s needs, but as a flexible platform that can evolve alongside the organisation over time.
The structure allows the Sunflower Children’s Hospice team to easily manage content updates, fundraising campaigns, news, events and future service information as the organisation continues to grow.
Performance, accessibility and mobile usability were prioritised throughout the build to ensure the platform remains inclusive and easy to access for all users. The result is a scalable digital foundation that helps support awareness, engagement and long-term growth for the organisation.
